Medway & Maidstone AC senior men clinched the team prize in the Kent Cross Country League series. The four-race competition is considered the toughest cross-country league in the county and the prizes for team and individual places are highly regarded. M& M not only picked up the ‘top 4-to-score’ team trophy but boasted the league winner in Tom Collins and runner-up Teweldebrhan Menges. The club were also runners-up in the ‘12-to-score’ competition. In total, the club had four runners in the top 10 and six runners in the top 15 final league places. During the final race, at Foots Cray Meadows, M& M had four runners in the top 10, claiming second place in a close team race. Collins led the 4-to-score team with a fourth place, followed by Cameron Payas in sixth, Menges eighth and Simon Habtom in 10th. Making up the 12-to-score team were Richard Tomlinson (15th), Jack Crossley (20th), Harry Collins (26th), Andrejs Safars (34th), Tristan Hodges (38th), Mark Wilkins (50th), Darren Wright (63rd), Alun Rogers (67th), Bob Fursey (89th) and Adrian Moody (92nd). As a result, M& M’s final league position dropped from fourth to 15th in the 3-to-score and from third to fifth in the sixto-score teams. Mo Fazakerley was the first placed runner in 32nd, closely followed by Alison Williams in 34th. Fazakerley was eighth overall in the W45-54 category.
