Heartbroken mum’s tribute to her wonderful four-year-old
A four-year-old boy being treated for chickenpox tragically died within days from an aggressive cancer.
Riley Bourne, from Park Wood, lost his short fight against acute myeloid leukaemia on Monday.
When he started coughing up blood last Thursday, his parents knew it was more than a childhood virus that was making him poorly and rushed him to hospital.
They received the shock diagnosis 24 hours later and despite an urgent bout of chemotherapy the following day, he was too weak to survive.
His heartbroken mother Joanne Bourne has paid tribute to her “Smiley Riley” who was a wonderful big brother to three-month-old Roman.
She spoke of his love of dancing and how he charmed those who met him.
The 24-year-old said: “He was always happy. Everyone he met, he touched their hearts.”
