Flats blaze evacuation
Twenty residents were evacuated from a block of flats on Sunday after a fire broke out.
Six fire engines were called to Miller Heights in Lower Stone Street, Maidstone, at 6.30pm.
The blaze started in an electrical cupboard in an apartment on the 10th floor. Firefighters were able to contain the fire, minimising damage to the property.
The flat in question was close to a fire escape, and only residents living in that section of the floor were evacuated.
The tenants of the firedamaged flat have been temporarily rehomed, but all others were able to return to their apartments at 8pm when firefighters left.
Police closed the road while the fire was dealt with, and the road reopened soon after 8pm.
There were no reported injuries.
