A man died after having a medical episode at the wheel of his car, an inquest was told.

The court heard how 37-yearold Vincent Crooks, of The Esplanade, Rochester, was driving his Volkswagen Golf on the A229 out of Maidstone in the early hours of Sunday, February 12.

Dashcam footage recorded Mr Crooks driving normally until he let out a low strained groaning noise. The vehicle accelerated and left the road near the Running Horse Roundabout.

The footage cuts out, but police report the car crashed into a lamppost, a telegraph pole and a fence, before flipping over on its roof. Cause of death was given as multiple injuries.

Katrina Hepburn, assistant coroner for Mid-Kent and Medway, adjourned the inquest until May 9. Police are appealing for anyone who saw the crash or Mr Crooks beforehand to call 01622 798538 quoting MM/AH/28/17.
