Running club with you in Mind
With the increasing recognition that physical health and mental wellbeing are closely linked, a new running club has been launched.
The Maidstone and Mid Kent Mind charity is behind the new venture in Mote Park, with help from a £5,000 grant from the National Lottery and Sport England.
The club is being run by UK triathlete and qualified coach Deborah Hope, who is the charity’s finance manager.
She said: “Running reduces stress, releases ‘feel good’ endorphins, boosts confidence and aids all-round wellbeing.”
The club is free, open to all, and meets at the Mote Park cafe every Friday at 2pm. The ethos is completely uncompetitive, and Miss Hope devises a personal plan for each participant, initially involving walking and jogging.
