Memorial business is set in stone

-

A memorial business is looking to carve its name into the Maidstone market.

Set in Stone has opened on the corner of the High Street and Mill Street and his run by Malcolm Mewes and his wife Susan.

Mr Mewes began working as a funeral director aged 18, before moving into manufacturing and selling memorials. The couple own a branch in Sittingbourne which opened five years ago.

His wife previously worked as a teacher and when she decided she wanted to do something new, her husband suggested she help out at the business. Mrs Mewes said: “We know death is a difficult subject, but it is something everyone will have to think about at some point, so we hope we can make it as easy and comfortable as possible.”

The business is open between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday, and 10am and 1pm on Saturday. It is closed on Sundays. More at setinstonekent.co.uk.
