Amputee died of natural causes
An inquest into the death of a 70-year-old double amputee found he died of natural causes.
Colin Baker was living at Gavin Astor Nursing Home in Aylesford when he passed away on Monday, January 23.
He was identified to police by Joyce Gibson, a carer at the home.
Mr Baker had moved to the Royal British Legion Village home in December 2013 after having both legs amputated below the knee at Kent and Canterbury Hospital due to peripheral vascular disease, a condition in which fatty deposits in the arteries restrict blood flow to leg muscles.
He was admitted to hospital in November 2016 due to contracting pneumonia, and was seen by his GP in January with an acute respiratory infection.
Katrina Hepburn, assistant coroner for Mid-Kent and Medway, ruled that Mr Butler died of natural causes, namely bronchial pneumonia and a cerebral vascular accident.
