Please give me my war medals back

-

A former soldier who was captured during the Second World War has pleaded with burglars to return his stolen medals.

Geoffrey Blain, 94, was staying in a care home over Christmas when thieves stole four medals, and three medals belonging to his father who served during the First World War, from his Rolvenden home.

Mr Blain says the crime has left him frightened in his own home.

He said: “If the person who has them realised what they mean to me and how I came to have them, with three and a half years of atrocities I had to go through, maybe they might have a conscience.

“I thought that if they knew the story of my medals, they would see what it means to an old soldier. I would say to them, please, let me have them back.”
