Court date is set af­ter se­ri­ous crash

A Maid­stone man is set to ap­pear in court fol­low­ing a crash which left a mo­tor­cy­clist fight­ing for his life in hospi­tal.

Martin Tucker, 46, of Ton­bridge Road has been charged with caus­ing se­ri­ous in­jury by dan­ger­ous driv­ing and hear­ing is due at Maid­stone Mag­is­trates’ Court on Tues­day, April 18.

Jor­dan Crist, who is in his 20s, was rid­ing his blue Suzuki 600 mo­tor­cy­cle home from work when he was in­volved in a col­li­sion with a Fiat Scudo van on the A229 Royal Engi­neers Road.

The crash hap­pened at about 5.30pm on Novem­ber 10, by the Old Chatham Road slip-road. There were de­lays un­til 9pm.

Mr Crist’s fam­ily thanked a good samar­i­tan for stay­ing by his side un­til the emer­gency ser­vices ar­rived. The young biker was air­lifted to King’s Col­lege Hospi­tal in Lon­don with life-threat­en­ing in­juries, from which he is still said to be re­cov­er­ing.
