Warming up for bake-off at school
Staff, pupils, parents and friends of Maidstone Grammar School for Girls are busy practising ahead of the third Great School Bake-Off challenge.
The PTFA has organised an afternoon of tea and cakes from 2pm to 4pm, along with a “vintage cafe”, for Saturday.
A number of primary schools will also be visiting and will be able to take a tour of the school’s wartime air-raid shelters.
There are seven baking classes this year, ranging from six individual cakes to a loaf of bread, with a special category for primary school entrants.
The entries will be judged by a panel to include head teacher Deborah Stanley and her predecessor Mary Smith.
After judging, all the entries go on sale in the vintage cafe.
The public are welcome to turn up and join in the fun, which will include a cockney sing-along with Tom Carradine.
