Teen found with drugs locked up

A 17-year-old has been jailed for two years af­ter po­lice stopped his car and found drugs, a knife and £1,000 in cash.

Of­fi­cers stopped him in Loose Road, Maid­stone, af­ter a faulty brake light on the car was spot­ted.

The teenager, who was in the ve­hi­cle with a 38-year-old man, was found to be car­ry­ing 65 wraps of crack co­caine and her- oin, a 10in knife and £1,000 in cash. Cannabis and elec­tronic scales were also found.

Both were ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of tak­ing the ve­hi­cle with­out con­sent and pos­sess­ing class A drugs with in­tent to sup­ply.

The teenager, from Croy­don, was charged with pos­ses­sion of a knife in a pub­lic place, pos­ses­sion of crim­i­nal prop­erty, posses- sion with in­tent to sup­ply both heroin and crack co­caine and pos­ses­sion of cannabis.

He ap­peared be­fore mag­is­trates on Fri­day and was sen­tenced to two years youth de­ten­tion.

Richard Lovett, of Dun­can Road, Gilling­ham, was charged with driv­ing with­out a li­cence or in­sur­ance. He is due be­fore mag­is­trates on March 31.
