Teen found with drugs locked up

A 17-year-old has been jailed for two years after police stopped his car and found drugs, a knife and £1,000 in cash.

Officers stopped him in Loose Road, Maidstone, after a faulty brake light on the car was spotted.

The teenager, who was in the vehicle with a 38-year-old man, was found to be carrying 65 wraps of crack cocaine and her- oin, a 10in knife and £1,000 in cash. Cannabis and electronic scales were also found.

Both were arrested on suspicion of taking the vehicle without consent and possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

The teenager, from Croydon, was charged with possession of a knife in a public place, possession of criminal property, posses- sion with intent to supply both heroin and crack cocaine and possession of cannabis.

He appeared before magistrate­s on Friday and was sentenced to two years youth detention.

Richard Lovett, of Duncan Road, Gillingham, was charged with driving without a licence or insurance. He is due before magistrate­s on March 31.
