Teen found with drugs locked up
A 17-year-old has been jailed for two years after police stopped his car and found drugs, a knife and £1,000 in cash.
Officers stopped him in Loose Road, Maidstone, after a faulty brake light on the car was spotted.
The teenager, who was in the vehicle with a 38-year-old man, was found to be carrying 65 wraps of crack cocaine and her- oin, a 10in knife and £1,000 in cash. Cannabis and electronic scales were also found.
Both were arrested on suspicion of taking the vehicle without consent and possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.
The teenager, from Croydon, was charged with possession of a knife in a public place, possession of criminal property, posses- sion with intent to supply both heroin and crack cocaine and possession of cannabis.
He appeared before magistrates on Friday and was sentenced to two years youth detention.
Richard Lovett, of Duncan Road, Gillingham, was charged with driving without a licence or insurance. He is due before magistrates on March 31.
