Villagers’ homes pleas ignored

-

Editor News editor I must challenge the statement by Quinn Estates which was reported in the March 3 issue of the KM.

The firm claims to have “carried out extensive consultation in the community” regarding the houses which will be built on the former Grafty Garden Centre. There were two crowded meetings in Grafty village hall.

Young people pressed their need for smaller, affordable houses in the village in which they grew up. Older couples looking to retire in the village made the same plea.

Many written comments along these lines were left for the developers to study. These needs have been ignored and the estate will comprise large houses. £100,000 is of little use to a village which desperately needs smaller properties.

A final comment the name Boughton Park shows a lack of imagination. Residents were not consulted. Evidently Quinn Estates is unaware that there are at least six Boughtons in Kent and only one Grafty Green. Joan Drury Headcorn Road, Grafty Green.
