Funeral fund in loving memory

-

Well-wishers have donated thousands of pounds towards the funeral of a teenage girl killed in a rail tragedy.

Georgia Walsh, 16, from Swanley, died at Dunton Green station on Friday evening after being hit by a train.

On Sunday friend Samantha Butler set up a JustGiving page to help her family with funeral costs.

Less than 24 hours on, it had already surpassed its £3,600 target.

The page states: “Georgia has left behind her single mum and her three siblings.

“We are trying to raise money to help with funeral costs to relieve any additional stress in their time of grief. We are appealing to the public to assist with this family’s very trying time in any way they can.”

Georgia’s mum Jenny Connell paid tribute to her “incred- ibly talented, very artistic and dedicated” daughter, describing her as “so funny, very quick witted and incredibly brave”.

The family also said their thoughts were with the driver of the train.

Mary Boyle, principal, said: “Staff and students were saddened to learn of the sudden death of former student Georgia Walsh. She was a lovely young woman and well respected by staff and students. Our condolences, prayers and thoughts are with her family at this time. “

She added counselling had been arranged for anyone who needs it.
