Cllr McLoughlin reported that the signs at Norton Road/ Church Road had been moved and Cllr Waring agreed to look into it. He also complained about the off road parking for the village hall which was causing pedestrians to walk into the road or across lawns. He was asked to report this to the village hall management committee. Cllr Waring reported that the village hall committee was considering installing CCTV to try to catch flytippers. Cllr Underdown had attended the East of Maidstone Bus meeting and had passed over a letter from residents to the representative from Arriva. She also attended the launch of the Warden Support scheme which the parish had agreed to participate in. A piece advertising for volunteers wwould be put in the Village News . Cllr Underdown attended a Speedwatch training session for a new system which was going to make organising sessions and logging results very long-winded and was not suitable for a small group such as in Chart Sutton. She felt she could not carry on with this especially as two of the team members were not happy with having to cope with the new system. The clerk was asked to write to the Speedwatch organiser explaining that the parish was withdrawing. However, since this, the organiser had approached Cllr Underdown and was prepared to give training to the team and to try to find a way to make things easier and more appropriate to their situation. If successful, Cllr Underdown would reconsider resigning as she does not want the village to lose Speedwatch. Members noted that the internal auditor carried out an interim audit on February 28. Members confirmed that the internal auditor is independent of the council and has no involvement in financial decision making.
