Tom Carpenter was pipped by an unregistered runner in the Maidstone parkrun on Saturday. Carpenter’s time of 16min05sec saw him finish runner-up, with Ed Peters third in 17.26. For the ladies, Megan Ormiston (JW11-14) ran well to win in 21.26. Nicole Priestly, on her first visit to Maidstone, came second in 21.51, with Gill Holmes, first four weeks ago, finishing third in 22.17. The best age-graded score was also a close scrap, with Roger Hyland, 16th overall in 20.01, beating Carpenter (80.62%) with 80.85. There were 389 runners. Malling’s event also went to a first-time visitor in Sean Truett with a time of 19.08. David Sampson finished second in a personal best of 19.52, just ahead of James Philpott, who produced his own personal best of 19.58 for third. The ladies were also led home by a first-time visitor, with Lucinda Goddard recording 22.23. She beat Olivia Bonner-Evans, running her first parkrun in 22.33, while Louise Holden, a winner two weeks ago, produced a best of 24.01 to clinch third. Although Sampson’s second place gave him an age-graded score of 78.02%, this was not quite enough to prevent James Graham (VM60- 64) regaining top spot with a score 78.91 for his sixth place finish overall in 20.52. There were 146 runners. In the Canterbury Riverside 10k on Sunday, Dragons Running Club had two members in action. Katherine Smith finished fourth lady and 41st overall in 45.48 and Clare Fullager was 109th overall in 52.44 out of 359 runners.
