Woman died after fall from bed
An elderly woman died as a result of a brain injury after falling out of bed, an inquest heard.
Daphne Ray had called out to her husband, Victor, when she fell in the early hours on January 17.
Paramedics were called to her home in Rycault Close, Maidstone, and took her to Maid- stone Hospital. The 77-year-old retired paper mill worker was transferred to the stroke unit later that day.
A CT scan showed she had a bleed on the brain, but it was unclear whether she had suffered a haemorrhage and fallen as a result, or had fallen and subse- quently suffered a haemorrhage.
Doctors at the Hermitage Lane hospital ruled she was not suitable for neurosurgery. She died the next day.
Coroner Patricia Harding ruled that Mrs Ray’s death was an accident as a result of the bleed on the brain caused by her fall.
