Fake officers raid

-

A man in his 70s was assaulted and robbed of cash and a gold ring by two men posing as police officers during a burglary at his home.

The suspects, both white and aged between 30 and 40, used scarves to conceal their identities as they entered the property in Phoenix Place, Dartford, on Saturday afternoon.

They identified themselves as officers when the victim found them searching his bedroom and assaulted him, leaving him with bruising to his left wrist. They went on to search the property and stole a number of items, including the gold ring and cash.

Police advise that anyone suspicious of someone claiming to be an officer should ask to see their warrant card and dial 999 to speak with a call handler who will be able to assist.
