Plea for help to make Paul’s final days a happy family time

-

The family of a father-of-four who successfully battled cancer twice, have launched a massive fundraising drive after the disease returned.

Paul Gray, 36, from Chatham, was first diagnosed with cancer of the voicebox in 2015, but successfully beat the disease, twice.

Mr Gray, who is married to Charmaine and had his voicebox removed last year to stop the cancer spreading, was initially given the all clear.

However, the family recently learned it had returned and is now terminal.

As a result, Mr Gray’s foster daughter, Sarah Card, 23, has set up a JustGiving fundraising page so they can make some amazing memories before his time runs out. Mr Gray and his wife have four children together, Jade, 16, Charlie, 12, Freddie, nine, and Georgina, five.

Initially Sarah wanted to raise £1,000 but within two days, supporters had smashed that target.

Sarah, who works at an estate agents, said: “Cancer has taken too much time from my family and has taken the fun daddy the kids once had.

“One day their daddy won’t be here but the memories will live on forever. I want my family to smile, not cry.”

Ideas on what to the family want to do with the money include a christening for Georgina, a weekend away for the whole family and a trip to the beach.
