Reasons not to move our post office

-

Senior reporter Senior reporter Following the closure of NatWest Bank in Staplehurst I was deeply shocked to hear of the proposed move of the post office, currently sited conveniently in the middle of the village High Street in the main shopping area. I have listed the main reasons this should not take place:

The proposed site for the post office is outside the main part of the village centre and has limited parking.

The proposal does not take into account the distance from the shopping area for the elderly, approximately just under a mile.

Shopkeepers and customers have already lost the services of being able to bank due to the recent closure of the NatWest closure on the Parade.

Reduction of shoppers due to the lack of financial services within the village centre. Senior reporter Senior reporter

There is no road crossing near the proposed new site on this very busy main road.

The existing post office at Milestone Buildings has plenty of storage space and easy access for the ever growing delivery and collection of parcels. Senior reporter Reporter

In no way is this proposal an acceptable idea and I would ask people to reject it as I am quite sure most of the village residents will want. Pauline Mitchell Staplehurst
