-

Hundreds went on a charity run in Mote Park, Maidstone, on Sunday. The Resolution Run in aid of the Stroke Association saw fundraisers go over 5km or 10km courses designed for all ages and abilities. Dressed in the charity’s purple T-shirts, people took part in a warm-up stretching session before setting off at Mote Avenue. Around 240 people from across Kent ran, jogged and walked, raising £18,000. Becky Beard, the charity’s community and events fundraising manager, said: “With around 1.2m people across the UK living with the devastating impact of stroke, it is vital that we have people like our Resolution Runners to raise funds. “We’re extremely grateful to everyone who took part. The money raised will fund vital research and support for stroke survivors, as well as help to prevent people from having a stroke.” At least half of strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control and exercising more.
