Taylor feels the love from supporters
Bobby-Joe Taylor treasures the relationship between Maidstone players and supporters. Taylor lapped up end-ofseason celebrations at the Gallagher last weekend before continuing the party in Dublin with team-mate Jack Paxman. Players and fans mixed for hours after the final game against Tranmere as superstar DJ Nic Fanciulli – a childhood friend of boss Jay Saunders – put on a show. Taylor said: “It’s massive to see all the players here mixing with the fans. “The club knows where it comes from. “The players here are all good players, they’re good people, they can interact with the fans, everyone can get involved. “It’s another season done. It feels like yesterday we were playing York in the first game. They’d just come down from League 2 and were one of the favourites to go back up and now they’ve gone down again. “That’s football, but this is about Maidstone and I’m delighted for everyone in the club that’s put in the hard work to stay up.” Taylor scored on the opening day against York and went on to finish with nine goals, one behind leading marksman Jamar Loza. The winger was in and out of the side towards the end of the campaign, but played a big part in United’s survival. He said: “It’s been a good season. “There’s been ups and downs, you don’t play, you do play, but we’re safe, we’ve had a good season and it goes to show what we can hopefully look forward to. “I’m happy with nine goals from midfield. A few of them were penalties but they all count.” A new deal at the Gallagher would see Taylor return to full-time training, two years after leaving Cambridge for Maidstone. He’s waiting to see what Saunders has for him. Taylor said: “I don’t like to say too much. “Me and Jay will have a chat when the time’s right. It’s a big club with a bright future and full-time football is something I want to get back into, so we’ll see. “I’d like to stay. We’ll have a chat and if it’s right for both parties I’m sure I’ll be back.”
