Temporary road closure: Bradbourne Lane will be closed from St Peter’s Road to outside number 42, for up to six days from June 5. The alternativ­e route is via New Road, London Road and St Peter’s Road. The closure is to enable gas main connection­s to be carried out by Southern Gas Networks. Community Day: Community Day is on Sunday, June 25. It starts with an Open Air Service on the Village Green from 3pm. The theme is Communitie­s Around the World and special guest Tracey Crouch MP will speak about the importance of communitie­s. The Jazz Band and the two village presSchool­s will provide entertainm­ent. After the service there will be refreshmen­ts and activities over at the junior school including bouncy castle, face painting, ice cream van, Communigro­w and Scouts stands. Donations of cakes (for refreshmen­ts) and bottles (for a hoopla) for the day would be welcome. Thank you to everybody who supported this event. It is hoped to hold an autumn exchange in October. On Thursday, June 15, the club will be having an early evening visit to Goddards Green, which is a five acre garden surroundin­g a 500 year old Clothiers House, near Cranbrook. The house is not open. A donation of £5 per visitor is to be made to The National Garden Scheme and to charity. Members are to use their own transport to arrive for a 6pm start. Directions will be provided. Non-members who also wish to go are asked to contact Sue Morris on 01622 726164. There will be a nominal charge of £3 per person. Farmers’ market: Due to last minute unexpected difficulti­es, Compass Rose, Teston Bakery, Bergamia Tea and Gemma Keith Artist did not attend and sent apologies. Attendance was fairly low although Low Wood Nursery sold a good number of plants and even had hardy standard olive trees on offer. The kitchen was busy with the traditiona­l English breakfast on sale for £4.50. Representa­tives of the Young Lives Foundation were there to publicise their local charity based in College Road and are working with disadvanta­ged young people. The next farmers’ market is on Sunday, June 4, and all stalls, with the exception of Yarns of Anarchy and Carol May Hand

Theft of a hydraulic concrete breaker and then the replacemen­t from The Priory; theft of horse trailers from Wilsons Lane and Dean Street and theft of a plant trailer from Wilsons Lane. Criminal damage to field gate padlocks in Wilsons Lane, barbed wire in Gallants Lane and to paddocks in Wilsons Lane. Cllrs Glyn Charlton and Peter Beasley are chairman and vicechairm­an respective­ly for the coming year. Cllr John Wilson was thanked for his tenure as chairman. Jackie King has been co-opted to the parish council, to replace Steve Shearman. The pot holes in the car park had been filled in and would be completed when more paint had been bought.
