Closing the doors on sweet success

After 10 years of helping people prepare cakes for some of the biggest events of their lives, a sugarcraft store will close its doors at the end of the month.

Amanda Brooks and Karen Henderson set up Think Cake in Maidstone in 2007, having previously worked together for seven years.

The pair have enjoyed every minute of running the Union Street store, but have made the decision to shut up shop when their lease runs out on Tuesday, July 18. The store is likely to stop trading before this date, as it will need to be cleared before then.

Neither has any big plans once the shop shuts, but are both looking forward to spending time with their families.

So what’s been their favourite thing about owning Think Cake?

Mrs Brooks explained: “Our customers are having memorable moments every week and it’s so nice to get involved with the events they’re having. There isn’t one occasion that stands out because each one is special in its own way.”

Both ladies sent out a heartfelt thanks to all their customers from over the years, with Mrs Brooks adding: “We would like to thank each and every person we’ve met over the last 10 years. We’ve been so lucky to have such a good customer base and vibe in the store from the very start, and we’ve enjoyed every moment.”

The shop is still open between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and between 9am and 4pm on Saturdays.
