Appeal over biker’s crash death
Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died in a crash with a van near Faversham.
It left part of the M2 between junctions 6 and 7 closed on Friday for more than five hours.
The victim, Anthony Medhurst, believed to be 28 and from Medway, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
Police were called at 8.20am and an air ambulance was scrambled.
There were eight-mile tailbacks as motorists got caught up in the aftermath and the coastbound carriageway eventually reopened at 2.30pm.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have footage caught on a dashcam or other device that may assist their investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it are asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.
Part of the M2 was closed in both directions after a river of sewage flooded the carriageway on Sunday afternoon.
The motorway shut coastbound and London-bound between junction 2 (Strood/Rochester) and junction 3 (Chatham/Rochester).
It is understood to have been caused by a burst sewage pipe, which brought the waste gushing down from an embankment.
