Locals enjoy cars, coffee and a chat

Expanding on the ever popular regular coffee mornings held at the Vinters Park Community Centre, the Vinters Park Residents Associatio­n hosted the inaugural Cars and Coffee. Alongside the coffee, the main feature was, of course, the vehicles, all of which were owned by residents of Vinters Park and Woodlands. This helped keep the event with a local focus. The vehicles covered every decade from a evidence from a crime scene, discover how to tell when a gun is real or fake, tips on road, marine, motorcycle, helicopter safety and crack investigat­ion teams. No dogs, other than Guide dogs admitted. Food, drink and ice cream available to purchase on the date. Residents from both near and far visited and enjoyed the display along with a cup of something hot and it gave them a great opportunit­y to talk with fellow residents. Bring teddy: The church fete and annual teddy parachute jump takes place on Saturday, June 24 from 1-4pm in the church grounds. Live music from the Foghorns, stalls, tombola, a luxury raffle, games and amusements, along with a barbecue should provide entertainm­ent for all the family. At The George: Starting on Saturday, June 24, the George will be open from 8am for breakfast and rugby for all the Lions games during their New Zealand tour. Sunday services: On Sunday June 24, Baptist service with junior church takes place at 10.30am at the Baptist church. Refreshmen­ts will be served at the end of the service. Also that day, St Peter & St Paul’s church will be holding all age breakfast at 9.30am, followed by an All Age Service at 10am. Summer hog roast: The Friends of Yalding Surgery are holding a summer hog roast and barbecue on Sunday, July 2 from noon-6pm at Mill Place, Symonds Lane. Along with food, there will be a children’s entertaine­r and a raffle, a lovely garden to enjoy and good company. Entrance is by ticket only, and tickets, available at the surgery, cost £12.50 per adult and £5 for children up to 16. Under fives go free.
