Terminally ill Lisa is denied the dream of seeing her idol Adele
A terminally ill grandmother has been left devastated after a cruel twist of fate robbed her of her dream of seeing her idol Adele at Wembley.
Cancer sufferer Lisa Middlecote paid £440 for her and her sister Justine Nield to see the star, only to discover she had been conned by a fake events website.
The 49-year-old, who lives with her sister in Gillingham had wanted to “create a lasting memory gift” the two of them could share as she only has months to live.
After reading about their misfortune on Kent Online, businessman Liam Walsh came to the rescue and gave them VIP tickets for the London arena.
The tickets donated by Mr Walsh, who runs Maidstonebased MyHome Installations, included luxury seating in the exclusive Bobby Moore club, pre-concert drinks and Champagne, an evening meal and invitations to a post-show after party.
But Lisa’s dying wish was shattered on Saturday when news emerged Adele had been forced to pull out on the advice of her doctor because of damaged vocal chords.
Speaking from their home in Balmoral Road, Justine, 45, said she was “utterly gutted”.
She added: “I just can’t believe it. It just seems we are jinxed.”
Taking to Twitter to break the news, the ‘Hello’ singer said: “To say I’m heartbroken would be a complete understatement.”
The 29-year-old had already played two sold-out shows at the London venue last Wednesday and Thursday night, and was due to perform again over the weekend.
In a lengthy statement posted on Twitter, Adele explained that she had struggled vocally during the first two nights of her Wembley residency.
