Medway & Maidstone under-13 and under-15 teams produced a sensationa­l result in the final Kent Young Athletes League meeting of the year.

At their home track in Medway Park on Sunday, they bettered their usual third-place finish with a win, pipping Blackheath & Bromley by just 4.5 points.

In the boys’ under-15 2k walk, Jack Childs set a personal best of 9min50.7sec – a new league record.

Michael Uzozie set a new PB in the 100m with a time of 11.9sec, then went on to win the B-string long jump and helped the relay team to second in the 4x100m.

In the under-13 boys’ event, William Maloney set a new best in the 100m, finishing second in the B-string with a time of 14.2, before equalling his own best in the 200m.

Kieran Isaac continued his great form, winning the shot and coming second in both the 100m and 200m. Maya Marriner had a great day for the under-15 girls, setting new bests in the 100m and shot and performing well in the hurdles and 4x300m relay.

Charlotte Young just missed out on a new club record as she won the 800m A-string and was well supported by Erin Hughes going on to with the B string, making it an M&M double.

Isobel Shelley, competing for the first time, won the javelin with a new best of 23.21m before setting a best in the 800m of 2.44.9.

In the under-13 girls’ events, Lily Crossley and Scarlett Murphy set new bests – Crossley in the 800m and discus and Murphy in the javelin and 150m.

Gypsy Nash continued her great form, winning the discus and finishing second in the shot and javelin.
