Taylor back at the Gallagher

Bobby-Joe Taylor won’t celebrate if he scores against Maidstone.

The winger returns to the Gallagher with new club Aldershot on Tuesday (7.45pm) and is guaranteed a warm welcome.

He’s made a flying start to his Shots career, scoring in the 3-2 midweek win over Torquay but he’ll keep his emotions in check if he beats Stones keeper Lee Worgan.

Taylor, who left United after rejecting a new deal, said: “I don’t think I could celebrate if I score. I wouldn’t do that. I’d show respect if it happens.

“It’s going to be nice to come back. We haven’t parted on bad terms, the fans were good to me and the club were good.

“It’s a club I’ll hold close to me because we gained promotion and I enjoyed my time there but it was time for me to move on.

“That’s football and people understand that. I still speak to a couple of the boys and it’s going to be nice to see some faces again but I’ll be trying to get the win for Aldershot.”

Taylor was a big crowd favourite

“I did enjoy my time there and the fans have always been good to me, so hopefully I’ll get a good reception, whichever way the result goes.

“It’ll be good to play back at the Gallagher in front of a good set of fans.”
