Title hopes dented by surprise defeat

Premier Division title-chasers Kings Hill suffered a shock defeat by lowly Rodmersham.

With Staplehurs­t not in action, they stay top by eight points but have played a game more.

Alex Richards made 44 in a total of 143 all out. Neil Scott made an early breakthrou­gh but Rodmersham recovered to win by six wickets.

Champions-elect Headcorn were seven-wicket winners over Holborough Anchorians in Division 1A Central.

Mick Day hit 43 for Anchs but with Andrew Fisher, Rob Hills and Rob Mansell taking two wickets each, they were held to 123-7.

Simon Phipps led Headcorn to victory with an unbeaten 63 featuring 12 fours.

Peter Bowles finished on 92 not out as The Mote 3rds beat Gore Court 3rds by nine wickets.

They eased home in 26.1 overs after Lewis Bone’s 3-20 saw Court held to 145-5. Hunton Wanderers were bowled out for 129 in an eightwicke­t defeat by Sherwood. Jack Hart bowled well for Hunton, taking 2-15 in 10 overs. Rumwood were easy winners against Faversham in a mid-table Division 1B Central game. Robert Wood (4-32) was the key bowler as Faversham closed on 109- 8.

Captain Jordan Austin saw Rumwood home with an unbeaten 51.

Staplehurs­t 2nds remain in the promotion picture after beating Lenham.

Dave Bunch’s 58 helped Lenham to 145-5, Colin Breed taking 2-17.

Chris Watts (37 not out) completed a three-wicket victory for Staplehurs­t.

Leeds & Broomfield 2nds made light work of Westgate in Division 2A East.

Matthew Mustill (3-10) and Andrew Turner (3-18) led the way with the ball as Westgate collapsed to 76 all out.

Leeds won by nine wickets with Turner (34 not out) and Daren Hunt (27 not out) the unbeaten batsmen.

In Division 2A West, Snodland Community were bowled out for 71 in reply to 144 from Bromley, beaten by 73 runs.

Kings Hill 2nds closed in on the Division 2C Central title with victory over Headcorn 2nds.

Gary Jackson made 40 as the leaders closed on 197- 6.

Danny Thomas took 3-23 and Paul Clifton 2-1 with Headcorn 86-8 – Kings Hill winners by 111 runs.

Yalding picked up their fourth win, beating New Ash Green by 94 runs.

Opener Samuel Faulkner made 68 in Yalding’s total of 156.

Abdus Salam (4-24) reduced Green to 19- 4 while Edward Mead claimed 3-5 as the visitors were bowled out for 60.

Hunton Wanderers 2nds were all out for 76 in an eight-wicket defeat by Upchurch 4ths.
