Ady: There’s no quick fix

-

Head coach Ady Pennock has warned that there is no quick fix for Gillingham. Pennock revamped the Gills squad in the summer following a woeful 2016/17 campaign. And while he has been pleased with what he has seen so far, Pennock knows it will take time. He said: “Yes, we have one point from two games but I do believe we are in a good place. People can see what I am trying to do and what we are trying to build. “It does take time, it doesn’t happen overnight. Lots of people are saying how much better it is already. They are looking forward to the next game and that is good. “There is a good vibe around the whole place. We lost 1- 0 last Saturday (to Bradford) but we could have won 5 or 6-2. We are creating good chances. “We know we have to be ruthless in front of goal but it is just two league games. “Training is different, the changing room is different, match days are different and my staff are seeing the difference in the players. “It would be lovely to have a magic wand and win every single game but progression does take time.” Pennock isn’t able to splash the cash, like many of his rivals. He said: “We haven’t got endless resources and we can’t get players on £ 6-7,000 a week that other clubs are doing in this league. “There are clubs in this league who, in my opinion, are gambling on their futures. We have a good steady ship here, I know what the budget is. “We are building gradually and as long as people can see that improvement, that is important. “The players can see it, they are jumping on the ship, that is what it is all about and the supporters can see it.”
