Horror film fair should be dead good

-

An exhibition celebrating the golden age of horror movies comes to Maidstone Museum next month.

‘Scream and Scream Again’ explores the best bloodthirsty and gory films from the 1950s to the 1970s, when the influence of British cinema was at its zenith worldwide.

The collection will feature original movie posters, reflecting styles from early gothic to the infiltration of pop culture in the 1970s.

A collection of rare original lobby cards and posters from around the world will also be on display alongside a selection of the museum’s own weird and macabre objects – including taxidermy, bats, rats, insects, mummified remains, death masks and dentistry equipment.

The exhibition in St Faith’s Street is PG rated but there will also be a number of late night events for over 18s.

The first is ‘Museums at Night’ on October 26. This includes drinks and a tour of the building and exhibits, accompanied by stories of urban legends and ghost tales associated with the museum.

Cllr David Pickett, chairman of Maidstone Borough Council’s heritage, culture and leisure committee said: “We’re very pleased to be welcoming this extraordinary exhibition to Maidstone Museum.

“It’s great to be able to offer such a diverse programme of events to our residents and visitors.”

The exhibition runs from Tuesday, October 10 to Saturday, December 2.

Admission is £4 for adults, £3 for children and £12 for a family.

Tickets for the late event cost £10 per person.
