Bus lane will simply cut road space

Mr Mellor said: “an extra bus lane into town would be enough to mitigate the effects of new residents moving in.”
Will this “bus lane” be entirely a new road, or does it just mean existing roads will have their capacity halved as road space is taken away, so creating even more congestion? Terry Hudson Russell Drive, Whitstable and I come to a halt just south of Chapman Avenue, and I crawl all the way to the Ashford Road. In fact it takes me eight minutes to do less than a mile.
The traffic going the other way is also nose to tail.
Because of the congestion, numerous vehicles are cutting through Downswood and Spot Lane.
The traffic on the Ashford Road is also tailed back from the Ashford direction, and has been all week.
But then it would be, because someone has changed the traffic light sequence which now only allows about three vehicles to go through towards Maidstone.
What I thought was interesting today was somebody was carrying out a traffic census on the Ashfordbound side of the A20, something I have never seen on Willington Street or the Sutton Road, but then I suppose it’s difficult to count stationary traffic.
Perhaps the answer for KCC is to get a prescription from the NHS for statins. They will help to clear our What’s On reporter KoL editor arteries, but then there could be side effects.
