All-action Alderton leads way
AYLESFORD CRAWLEY
Jonathan Alderton scored three tries in Aylesford’s victory over Crawley.
Bulls are third in the early London 3 South East standings after maintaining their unbeaten start on Saturday.
Jacques Jordan impressed on his debut while Batstone twins Ed and James started together for the first time since recovering from bad injuries.
John Rumsey put in a good shift at No.10, the pack dominated up front and the backs made good runs in Bulls’ latest win.
Coach Jay Jenkins said: “Crawley were well-coached, quite a young side, athletic, with a lot of pace out wide. We just played our processes quite well. We got ahead on the scoreboard, played to our strengths and nullifed theirs.
“It was quite scrappy at times, with a few yellow cards and a couple of handbags which disrupted the flow but overall I’m pleased.”
Dion Comerford scored the first of Aylesford’s five tries, Alderton claimed the next three, with Pete Webdale also scoring. Comerford
added two conversions.
Bulls travel to fifth-placed Crowborough on Saturday.
Sam Proctor and Simon Rumsey are available but Aylesford will be missing Michael Jackson and the suspended Ben Turner.
Jenkins is encouraged by Aylesford’s start to the campaign after last season’s troubles.
He said: “We’ve probably got more points after three games than we had leading into Christmas last year.
“It’s been a far better start but there are 19 games to go and it’s one game at a time.
“Crowborough will be a tricky game. They beat Sheppey comfortably, so we’ll have our hands full down there.”
