From 2.30-4pm in the Baptist Church. Maidstone Flower Club: Meets in the Baptist Church on Thursday, October 12. The club looks forward to welcoming Patricia Bashford with her demonstrat­ion entitled Floral Fantasia. Tea/coffee will be available before the demonstrat­ion and Patricia’s arrangemen­ts will be raffled at the end of the evening. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. New members and visitors welcome. New venue: The Allington Castle WI will be meeting on Wednesday, October 18 at 7.30pm in the small hall at St Nicholas Church and every third Wednesday in the month thereafter. Visitors are welcome. Fuchsia Group: Mid Kent Fuchsia Group next meet on Thursday, October 12 at 7.30pm in St Nicholas Church Hall with the topic being John (Mad Jack) Fuller presented by Geoff Hutchinson. The club is affiliated to the British Fuchsia Society and the Kent Federation of Horticultu­ral Societies. It has been run by volunteers who are really enthusiast­ic with growing fuchsias since 1976. A lively and friendly group where new members are always made welcome to listen to the speaker and enjoy a cuppa. Meetings are every second Thursday of the month (except August). Under Billowing Sails: On Wednesday, October 11, the romance and reality of tall ships, an illustrate­d talk by Wilf Lowe, starts at 7.30pm in the Baptist Church. Entry £5 including coffee and cake. In aid of The Children’s Society. Messy Thanksgivi­ng: On Saturday October 21 from 11am-1.30pm in St Nicholas Church and Church Halls, there will be cooking, worship, crafts and games.
