Murder squad detectives have arrested five people in connection with the death of a teenager.
Former Brompton Academy pupil Kyle Yule was stabbed in East Street, Gillingham, just before 8pm on Friday.
He was running from a Renault Clio being attacked by a gang when he suffered the injuries.
The 17-year-old, who lived in nearby Hamilton Road, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital where he later died.
At the time of going to press yesterday (Wednesday), two people remained in police custody over the matter.
On Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was arrested in Woolwich, London and a 16-year-old boy was seized in Sydenham, London.
They are being held on suspicion of murder.
A 15-year-old boy arrested on Friday has been released on bail until November 2 while an 18-year-old arrested on Saturday has been released until November 7. A 20-year-old taken into custody in Gillingham on Tuesday has been released “under investigation”. All five come from the town.
In a touching statement released Monday, Kyle’s mum Nikki Yule said: “My beautiful son Kyle much loved, as loved as one could be, for you were everything in life you meant the world to me.
“Sometimes life can be unkind when hearts are torn in two but nothing ever could compare to the pain of losing you, but all the love you left behind forever will live on, so until we meet again rest peacefully my precious son.”
A police spokesman said: “Detectives would like to hear from anyone who may have information. After the incident, the Renault was reported to have been moved and found parked in nearby Cleveland Road.
“Police are also seeking information from anyone who may have noticed this vehicle being moved or saw anything suspicious.”
Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who saw people run from the scene towards West Street and onwards.
