Mur­der squad de­tec­tives have ar­rested five peo­ple in con­nec­tion with the death of a teenager.

Former Bromp­ton Academy pupil Kyle Yule was stabbed in East Street, Gilling­ham, just be­fore 8pm on Fri­day.

He was run­ning from a Re­nault Clio be­ing at­tacked by a gang when he suf­fered the in­juries.

The 17-year-old, who lived in nearby Hamil­ton Road, was taken to Med­way Mar­itime Hospi­tal where he later died.

At the time of go­ing to press yes­ter­day (Wed­nes­day), two peo­ple re­mained in po­lice cus­tody over the mat­ter.

On Tues­day, a 21-year-old man was ar­rested in Wool­wich, London and a 16-year-old boy was seized in Sy­den­ham, London.

They are be­ing held on sus­pi­cion of mur­der.

A 15-year-old boy ar­rested on Fri­day has been re­leased on bail un­til Novem­ber 2 while an 18-year-old ar­rested on Satur­day has been re­leased un­til Novem­ber 7. A 20-year-old taken into cus­tody in Gilling­ham on Tues­day has been re­leased “un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion”. All five come from the town.

In a touch­ing state­ment re­leased Mon­day, Kyle’s mum Nikki Yule said: “My beau­ti­ful son Kyle much loved, as loved as one could be, for you were ev­ery­thing in life you meant the world to me.

“Some­times life can be un­kind when hearts are torn in two but noth­ing ever could com­pare to the pain of los­ing you, but all the love you left be­hind for­ever will live on, so un­til we meet again rest peace­fully my pre­cious son.”

A po­lice spokesman said: “De­tec­tives would like to hear from any­one who may have in­for­ma­tion. After the in­ci­dent, the Re­nault was re­ported to have been moved and found parked in nearby Cleve­land Road.

“Po­lice are also seek­ing in­for­ma­tion from any­one who may have no­ticed this ve­hi­cle be­ing moved or saw any­thing sus­pi­cious.”

Of­fi­cers are also keen to hear from any­one who saw peo­ple run from the scene to­wards West Street and on­wards.
