Messy thanksgiving: On Saturday, October 21 from 11am-1.30pm in St Nicholas Church and Church Halls, there will be cooking, worship, crafts and games. Almshouses: Trustees for the Yalding almshouses met last week . Much hard work has been done in the gardens of the almshouses and the result is excellent. The gardens are looking neat and tidy, but the area outside the front walls, bordering the Windmill Path, is also much improved. The trustees are obtaining the necessary permission to proceed with the pruning of the large sycamores. All six houses are occupied. The Woodpeckers: The tidying group met in the churchyard last Saturday. They were kept busy collecting autumn leaves and removing ivy from the perimeter walls. Members of the Woodpeckers chatted affectionately about their founder member Tom Newman who died recently aged 91. His funeral is at St Margaret’s Church on Monday, October 23 at noon.
