Gardens need to be locked at night

-

Assistant news editor Senior reporter I was pleased to read in the KM that one entrance to Brenchley Gardens is blocked off, but the whole place needs to be securely fenced and locked after from dusk until dawn.

By day it’s generally a pleasant enough environment but at night time it attracts all sorts of anti-social behaviour. What genuine reason does anybody have to be in there after dark? T Johnson Perryfield Street, Maidstone Senior reporter Senior reporter Senior reporter

Further to Karen Luck’s letter in the KM on October 19, I am pleased to say we have been given permission to install new bus stops on each side of the Bearsted Road in front of the Hilton Hotel. We hope to have them installed before Christmas, if not in the New Year. As Ms Luck says, they will improve connections between Eclipse Park and the town centre – I am told through the 333, the 334 and the new number 9 bus services. Nick Yandle Gallagher Properties Ltd. Reporter Reporter Local Plan, developers cunningly out-manoeuvred the Planning Inspectorate, our MPs, local politicians, the borough council and the county council.

I am sure many residents would love a constructive dialogue on future growth in our borough as he suggested. However, those of us who did submit our opinions to the Local Plan thought that was exactly what we had done – we are beyond disappointed at being ignored.

Why do our borough councillors give the impression they are scared of fulfilling their elected roles?

The electorate comprises local residents – we can vote for you, but start to ignore our concerns and make poor decisions, and we can vote for another candidate. So instead of ‘getting involved’ as Cllr Harwood would wish, maybe local residents just need to think very carefully about the next election. All it takes it a cross in the box on a ballot paper. Mrs K Kersey Greensand Road, Bearsted from other lands. One survivor I met was a British man who was the subject of forced labour, in this country, for many months. KM readers may also recall reports of serious allegations of trafficking in Maidstone’s own back yard too. Learn more about this scourge at http://www.human trafficking foundation.org.

If you are involved in campaigns please write to me at helen.grant. mp@parliament.uk and share your experiences. Maybe I can help.
