Light Up a Life: Heart of Kent Hospice each year our Light Up a Life Appeal gives families and friends an opportunit­y to pause at the start of the busy Christmas season and remember those who are no longer with us, by dedicating a star in their memory . The focal point of the appeal is a beautiful candlelit evening where music , readings and reflection­s provide an opportunit­y for us to remember our loved ones. Your loved one’s name will also be entered in our Book of Remembranc­e if your dedication is received by Friday November 10th. Sunday 19 November- Time to Remember is a calm and reflective service where we come together to remember loved ones who have died. This will begin at 3pm. During the service will read out names of the deceased and there is the opportunit­y to light a candle in memory of them. Sylvia Cooper: A service of celebratio­n for the life of local organist, pianist and musician Sylvia Cooper was held at St William’s church, village centre on Friday, October 20. Sylvia’s family were joined by many friends, colleagues and representa­tives from local churches, Wisdom Hospice, schools, youth groups, Kingfisher Singers and the Evergreen Choir. During the past 50 years this quiet, private lady with her faith and remarkable talent willingly supported so many in our community. She was organist at three local churches St William’s, St David’s Lordswood and St Alban’s Blue Bell Hill, taught music in primary and secondary schools, was a piano teacher for young and old, accompanie­d The United Players for 30 years as they rehearsed and performed their annual pantomime at St William’s. She particular­ly loved her time spent playing at The Wisdom Hospice. Sylvia Cooper will be sadly missed by all who knew her in our community.
