Harry Mitchell scored from 40 yards as Kings Hill beat Sittingbourne Lions 3-1 in Maidstone Minor League Under-16 Division 1. They took a fourth-minute lead through Harry Bradford after the keeper could only parry Mitchell’s fierce effort. Mitchell’s 40-yarder made it two and he raced clear to complete the scoring from Bradford’s through ball. Thomas Tweddle and Tom Petman made goal-saving tackles while only a deflection denied Mitchell a hat-trick. Jamie Kerr scored his first goal in three years as Barming Colts beat Kings Hill Colts 7-3 in Under-16 Division 2. Kerr opened the scoring with captain James Kiely and Offiong Bassey also on target as Barming led 4-1. Kings Hill started the second half well, pulling two goals back, but Kenny Forecast and Jack Hewitt goals moved Barming clear in a battle of two sides looking for their first win. Manager Mark Brislee formed a squad of 15 from about 40 trialists over the summer, with Sports making a promising start to their South Division campaign.
They’ve won three of their six games to sit fourth in the table and on Sunday beat Bearsted 3- 0 with goals from Joe Thomas, George Murphy and Casey Hall.
Brislee said: “It’s a brand new group this season.
“We had trials in May with the best part of 40 trialists and we had to whittle it down to 15.
