Music festival’s 10th birthday
This year is a special one for the Maidstone Music Festival as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.
It was founded by professional piano teacher Sue Greenham.
This year’s two-day event has the usual format of competition classes in piano, singing, strings, woodwind, brass and accordion.
Each performer is given a helpful critique by an experienced judge and the very best will be invited to take part in a highlights concert for members of the public on Sunday, December 3, at Invicta Grammar School in Huntsman Lane, Maidstone.
In addition, this year, for the first time, the festival is being used as the only route for young performers to gain entry into the Maidstone Young Musician competition, run by the Rotary Dawn Patrol, in January.
Adjudicators will be looking out for suitable contestants, who will then be recommended for inclusion in the contest.
