Sweet fundraiser hard to resist
A town-centre shop kept Maidstone’s High Street sweet as cakes, chocolates and treats were carted around to raise money.
Leanna Apps, pictured, from McColl’s in Jubilee Square, carried around a charity donation tin to collect change from shoppers to raise cash for cardiac arrest charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). She also did a sponsored walk and organised a raffle.
Leanna said: “The CEO of the charity lost their son to a cardiac arrest at 21 and set up this foundation. A lot of people have had heart attacks or think of their loved ones and donate.”
Raffle winners took home huge boxes of chocolates and shopping vouchers to spend in Maidstone.
