At the Maidstone Business Networking session on Wednesday November 15, Sunil Rupasinha will give a talk with the title ‘Why I Defend the Guilty’. Sunil Rupasinha is a barrister who has practised at the London criminal bar for 25 years. He has prosecuted and defended in the full range of criminal courts, from the humble magistrate­s’ courts through to the august Court of Criminal Appeal itself, and, in the full range of criminal cases, from shopliftin­g to murder. He has now set up a niche, road-traffic defence practice, Kent Traffic Law, in which he specialise­s in saving driving licences. Arrive at The Weald of Kent Golf Club, Headcorn at 5.45pm. Networking starts immediatel­y, presentati­on at 6pm for around 20 minutes. The rest of the time is all about networking. Remembranc­e: On Sunday, November 12, there will be a Service of Remembranc­e at St Nicholas Church attended by members of the Leeds and Hollingbou­rne branch of the Royal British Legion, which is celebratin­g is 96th anniversar­y. Wreaths will be laid at the war memorial at 12.30pm. Parish council: Meeting in the Cardwell Pavilion on Monday, November 13 at 7.30pm. WI: The next meeting is on Tuesday, November 21 at 7.30pm in the village hall. Simon Ginnow is a knowledgea­ble warden at our wellknown park who will talk about a Year in the Life of Mote Park. Remembranc­e: The annual Remembranc­e Service will be held at St Nicholas church, on Sunday, November 12 starting at 10.50am. Two minute silence will start at 11am. Musical event: One of the South East’s promising new musicians, Laurence Long, will be giving an organ recital at the church on Saturday, November 18 at 2.30pm.
