Yobs throw rocks

-

Yobs hurled rocks at police cars in Ashford town centre.

Officers are investigating after three vehicles – including two patrol cars – were damaged at the police station in Tufton Street.

The rocks were thrown into the rear yard behind the station between midday and 2pm on Saturday.

Insp Jason Atkinson said: “It is fortunate no one was in the cars at the time the rocks were thrown, or there could have easily been serious injuries.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen anything, or knows who is responsible, to contact us on 01843 222289, quoting 30-0621.” A warning has gone out to dog owners after a canine died a sudden and “horrible” death after eating what is believed to have been poison.

Rescue dog Maggie began staggering, vomiting blue foam and trembling after swallowing a mysterious substance in Kent on Boxing Day afternoon.

Evette Carter’s parents were walking their three-year-old mixed-breed on a lead in Ash near Sandwich when the incident happened.

Evette condemned the “horri- ble cruelty” and said they believe similar things have happened in the rural area.

She said: “My step-mum had her on the lead and saw there was something in her mouth, but the dog swallowed it before she could get it out.”

She added one vet told the family they believed she was baited with slug poison, but toxicology tests are yet to be undertaken.

Meanwhile the family is calling on dog owners to take extra care and have notified the RSPCA.
