Top chefs unite for a food and drink festival in the park
Some of the county’s top cooks will be joining celebrity chef Tom Kerridge when he brings his Pub in the Park festival to Tunbridge Wells.
Michelin starred Mark Sargeant, of Larkfield, Stephen Harris, of the Sportsman in Whitstable, and Kent-born Angela Hartnett will join Tom at the food and drink extravaganza at Dunorlan Park in July.
Music will come from Tom Odell, Toploader, Scouting for Girls and the Christians.
It was launched by Tom, now appearing on BBC2 in Lose Weight for Good, after the success of its inaugural year last year in his home town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire, when all 18,000 tickets sold out in a day.
Speaking about bringing the festival to Tunbridge Wells, he said: “We are showcasing beauti- ful food and lots of buzz in a beautiful town. It ticks all the boxes. I know that the event will be amazing.
“The buzz it created last year in Marlow was amazing and people were talking about what good fun it was for ages afterwards. We want to bring that to Tunbridge Wells.
“We’re bringing in people who have the heart and soul and the passion. Artisan is a word which is banded about a lot, but it is about passion and heart and soul, so this festival has that artisanal feel. It will be something really special in your back garden.”
It aims to celebrate the very best food the county has to offer, combined with live music, chef demonstrations and talks.
Also on the line-up will be former Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown as well as the Tanner Brothers from the Hare, at Langton Green, near Tunbridge Wells, and Rob Taylor from the Compasses Inn at Crundale.
Pub in the Park will be taking place from Friday, July 6 to Sunday, July 8.
Tickets go on general sale on Friday, February 2, but if you sign up for Pub Club you will get advance information and tickets on Thursday, February 1.
