No panic as boss aims to bring in new faces

-

Manager Jay Saunders won’t panic in his search to sign the right players for Maidstone A deal for a centre-half stalled before the weekend while Saunders has also been talking to a midfielder and a forward. He brought in Andre Coker last Friday and has the support of owners Terry Casey and Oliver Ash in the transfer market. Saunders said: “Terry and Oliver are great. If there’s players out there and we can do it, we will do it. “They’ve allowed me to get Andre in and Crystal Palace have been good with that. “We’re not paying bundles towards it but we’re paying a little bit towards to his wages. “It’s not that we’re not trying, it’s just that they’ve got to be the right ones and if they’re within what we spend, then Terry and Oliver will allow us to do it. It’s easy to go out and rush and just get someone for the sake of it. “OK, we’re not winning games but we can’t afford to do that. We’ve got to get the right ones in and not panic.” Saunders is tired of errors costing Maidstone and needs players he can count on. He said: “It’s not through lack of effort, it’s mistakes costing us and it’s week in, week out and I can’t have that. “You need centre-halves who are going to win their headers and tackles, centre-midfielders who are going to do their basics and you need your centre-forwards scoring goals and, at the moment, that’s not happening. “People will have to go and people will have to come in.”
