Mutilated cat discovered in playground

Police are appealing for information following the discovery of a mutilated cat in a playground in Maidstone.

The fluffy ginger cat was found dead at a recreation ground in Mangravet Avenue in Shepway on Thursday, February 1.

Officers are encouraging anyone with information to call 01622 604100, quoting YY/3654/18.

At this stage, police are not linking the death to any similar incidents that have been reported over recent months, when cats were found dismembered in the Maidstone area in October, November and on New Year’s Eve. Those deaths are feared to have been carried out by the so-called UK Cat Killer.

In 2015, officers launched Operation Takahe to investigate a series of animal killings in the Croydon area. Since then hundreds of animals have been discovered across the country.
