Parts of Kent all white overnight

Local Democracy Reporter Supplement­s editor Business editor Snow has been falling in parts of Kent this week, turning normal scenes of life in the county into winter wonderland­s.

The white stuff came down overnight on Sunday and yesterday morning (Wednesday).

It settled, creating a white blanket in parts of the county including Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and Rochester.

Among the areas with a dusting included Linton Park off Heath Road, Maidstone, land near the River Medway and Offham near West Malling.

Primary road routes were gritted overnight and drivers have been advised to take extra care.

Widespread and hard frost was predicted for today (Thursday). What’s On reporter KoL editor local newspaper shop to have surgery on the table they use for marking up newspapers.

I do hope other NHS supporters appreciate my dilemma but my heart goes out to those in similar or worse degrees of discomfort and/or pain who are unable to afford any private healthcare.

For anyone else who has concerns and didn’t go I would urge them to beware of what is happening to our NHS both locally and nationally,

All roads around Kent are in a poor state of maintenanc­e with damage being done to people’s vehicles because of potholes.

About four years ago, the government made a charge of £10 per foreign lorry coming into Kent and said the money would be spent on Kent’s roads due to the extra heavy traffic via Dover and the Tunnel.

I often travel the 16 miles from Junction 8 to Junction 9 on the M20 and I couldn’t count the number of £10s that pass me.

It must amount to £600 or £700 just in that short distance, so how much comes along that road each day? I would like to know where all those £10s are going – it’s clearly not on the roads. Audrey Goodwin, Mangravat Avenue, Maidstone.

The government has already banned microbeads and promised to eliminate all avoidable plastic waste by 2042. But we can all do our bit to tackle plastic pollution. So why not join me and give up plastic for Lent.
