Final ball sees match tied

There was a dramatic finish to the game between Linton Park 2nds and Kennington on Sunday. Shehryar Gul scored 105 in Linton’s total of 274-7 and Dave Charlton weighed in with 59. But the visitors got stuck into the runchase with their top three batters all making half-centuries. It all came down to the final ball of the Division 6 match which finished in a tie with Kennington 274-5. There was another centurion in Division 3 with Alex Newman racking up 122 for Hunton Wanderers against Aldington. But he finished on the losing side as Aldington chased down their target of 225 with three wickets and more than four overs to spare. Leeds & Broomfield won a low-scoring game at Wingham in Division 1. George Davis top-scored with 52 as the visitors posted 136 before dismissing Wingham for 100. Edward Scrivens (3-18) and Marcus Prime (3-23) were the pick of the Leeds bowlers. Elsewhere in the division, Linton Park beat Elham Valley by four wickets. Sam Boys (3-22) helped bowl Elham out for 152 before opener James Piper led the successful Linton run-chase with a knock of 58. Staplehurs­t put 219-7 on the board against Harvel but lost the Division 2 clash by five wickets. Chasing a monstrous 358 for victory at home to Chestfield in Division 3, Bearsted were dismissed for 227 despite a rapid 75 from Paul Manktelow. Kings Hill captain Graham Hutchins hit 50 but finished on the losing side as they were all out for 153 replying to Frindsbury’s 181-9 in Division 4. But it was a good day for Town Malling, who strolled to a nine-wicket win at home to Horton Kirby. Jermaine Freeman swung the match Malling’s way with figures of 4-31 and after knocking Horton Kirby over for just 91, the hosts knocked off the runs in 18 overs. In Division 5, despite 57 from Sayed Jabarkhall, there was a six-wicket defeat for Holborough Anchorians at Herne. Loose lost to Chestfield 2nds by 10 wickets in Division 6 after being bowled out for 179.
