Hundreds ride on village slide

-

Everything slid into place for Sutton Valence’s annual water slide, despite facing cancellation just a few weeks ago.

The fundraiser looked to have dried up last month after a petition against the event nearly saw cancelled.

But a swell of local support saw KCC turn back on its decision and give its final approval.

Organiser Lyndon Davies, of the Queen’s Head Oddfellows, said: “Saturday went really well, we were busy all day.

“I reckon we were getting through 100 riders an hour, which is great when you consider we cancelled it, refired it up and then had to compete with the football.”

Saturday’s event raised more than £3,000 for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, meaning the annual event has raised more than £8,000 since starting in 2016.
