Caught in a fix at Little Mix

Complaints have poured in from fans who sat for hours in their cars waiting to get out of the Little Mix concert.

The gig at the Kent Showground in Detling Sunday night was said to be the largest ever in the county with 30,000 people in attendance.

Many were stuck in the car park for hours as crowds poured out of the venue at 9.15pm, arriving home in the early hours of the morning.

Kent Event Centre staff warned of three hour delays but this did little to ease people’s frustration on the night.

Fans contacted the KM to complain about waiting times and a seemingly poorly organised exit.

One reported people were directed to leave over a small footbridge which became so cramped some called for para- medics to help as they became overwhelmed by the crowds.

Even though many were prepared for a long wait to leave the car park, some were confused as to why only one exit gate was open until midnight.

Sarah Dutton, who took 10-year-old twins Andrew and Daisy, along with a friend and their child Georgia Miles, said: “We were warned it could be three hours to get out so it wasn’t a total surprise.

“However, it was incredibly infuriating to have an exit to Scragged Oak Road in our car park that they kept locked.

“We asked a number of staff members between 10pm and midnight if they could open the gate so we could get out but they kept saying no, they weren’t allowed.

“It was finally opened at around midnight and we managed to leaveat about 12:30am.”

Despite the wait, the group made the best of it with others in the same predicament.

“All the cars were beeping their horns to each other, people were playing their music loudly and dancing in between the cars, and we all shared our food and provisions, don’t you just love the British public”, said the 37-year-old.

“My daughter actually said it was the best night of her life - that was when she was dancing in the car park to the next car’s music and we were sharing out the chocolate digestives.”

Kent Event Centre was contacted for comment.
